Removing the timing chain
The CP has been removed. Remove the lower drive chain cover. Remove the chains from the camshafts. Install the chain drive of the auxiliary units. Press the slider of the chain tensioner damper in -direction of the arrow- and secure the chain tensioner with the locking pin -T40071-.
Risk of malfunction due to reversal of an already used drive chain. To reassemble, mark the direction of travel of the drive chain with an arrow and use paint for this. Do not score with a center punch or similar tools. Unscrew bolt -1 - and remove the damper bar. Unscrew bolts -2- and remove chain tensioner. Remove the chain drive.
Installation
Installation is in reverse order, note the following: replace the bolts that were overtightened. Install the drive chain in accordance with the markings applied during removal on the chain drive sprockets. Install the tensioner bar and tighten the bolts -1-. Install the chain tensioner and tighten the bolts -2-. Press the chain tensioner damper bar in -direction of arrow- and remove the locking pin -T40071- from the tensioner.
