Valve mechanism (Audi A8 D2)

Turn the crankshaft by the crankshaft pulley bolt in the direction of working rotation until one of the camshaft cams is installed with the projections up and check the clearance between the cam and the hydraulic tappet. The gap should be in the range of 0.10–0.20 mm.

Otherwise remove a camshaft and a pusher. Remove the expansion joint, measure its thickness and select the required thickness of the expansion joint.

Example

Measured clearance - 0.30 mm

Nominal gap - 0.15 mm

Difference - 0.15 mm

It is necessary to install the compensator 0.15 mm thicker.
