Gas distribution belt (Audi A6 C4)

Withdrawal

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.



2. To remove the upper belt cover, unscrew the screws.





3. Take out the inserts and disconnect the latches.



4. Remove the cover.


6. Remove drive belts and water pump pulley.

7. Set piston N1 to TDC.



8. Remove the crankshaft pulley.



9. Remove the lower timing belt cover.

10. Loosen the tensioner bolt and remove the timing belt.

Examination

Inspect the belt for grease or oil contamination, wear or damage. Replace belt if necessary.

Installation

1. Loosen the camshaft sprocket bolt and slide the sprocket off the shaft slightly.


2. Put the belt on the sprockets.



3. Put the belt on the tensioner pulley.



4. Pass the belt under the lower pulley.

5. Remove the locking pin from the fuel pump sprocket.



6. Turn the tensioner pulley clockwise to align the marks on the pulley and on the hub. Tighten the tensioner locknut.

7. Tighten the camshaft sprocket bolt.

8. Install the remaining parts.
