Maintenance period indicator (Audi A4 B6)

Service intervals are indicated on the digital display located on the dashboard for 5 seconds after the ignition is turned on.

Thanks to the use of a special, aging-resistant oil, engine service intervals are extended.

The driver is warned 2000 km or one month before the service due date by an indicator message «SERVICE IN 2000 km xxx TAGEN» («SERVICE IN 2000 KM xxx DAYS») after each ignition switch. The remaining mileage before the service, at any time can be called up on the indicator after pressing the button (1).



A message appears when the maintenance period is due «SERVICE!». After that, it is necessary to carry out maintenance.

After maintenance, the indicator must be reset for a new reading. This is done using the VAG-1551 or VAS-5051 device.

If, as part of maintenance or repair, the engine is filled with oil that does not meet Longlife VW / AUDI standards, it is necessary to switch the system from «flexible» on «hard» service schedule. According to a strict schedule, maintenance is performed every 15,000 km or 12 months. Switching the service indicator is done with the keys of the dashboard.

Warning: To maintain a flexible service schedule, the indicator must be reset using a VW/AUDI scan tool (service station work).

Warning: HUNDRED AUDI additionally, at each inspection, interrogate the fault memory of electronic engine control units, ABS, airbags and anti-theft locks using the VAG-1551 device. Therefore, it is advisable to visit the service station at regular intervals, even if the maintenance is carried out on your own. Interrogation of the fault memory is carried out by connecting to the diagnostic connector. You can also reset the service life indicator if necessary.

Resetting the maintenance interval indicator after maintenance

Perhaps with the help of a key located in the dashboard. In this way, the service interval indicator switches from «flexible» graphics on «hard».

Switching to a strict service interval schedule:

1. Make sure the ignition is off, if necessary, turn off the ignition.

2. Press and hold the key (1).

3. With the key pressed, turn on the ignition without starting the engine.

4. After releasing the key, the display shows the message «SERVICE IN???? km» («SERVICE THROUGH???? km») or «SERVICE!».

5. Reset key (2) keep pressed until the message «SERVICE IN - - - -Tagen» («SERVICE IN —— days») or «SERVICE!» won't disappear.

Warning: If the key is not pressed within 5 seconds, the reset mode will automatically turn off.

6. Turn off the ignition.

Warning: Only reset the service interval indicator immediately after resetting it, otherwise it will result in erroneous messages.
