Withdrawal
1. On manual transmission models, remove the transmission as described in chapter 7A and clutch as described in chapter 6.
2. On models with automatic transmission, remove the box as described in chapter 7B.
3. The flywheel/faceplate mounting bolts are asymmetrically located. Loosen the bolts while holding the flywheel/faceplate from turning. Temporarily screw the bolt into the cylinder block and lock the flywheel / faceplate with a screwdriver for the crown. You can make a special tool.
4. Remove the flywheel/faceplate from the crankshaft. If you remove the faceplate, remember the position of the washer and spacer (behind the faceplate).
Examination
5. Check faceplate/handwheel for wear and damage. Inspect the ring gear - there should be no excessive wear on the teeth. If the crown teeth are worn out, the entire faceplate is replaced. However, the flywheel can not be changed - the flywheel crown can be repressed, but it is better to entrust this work to the specialists of the dealer car service. If the friction face of the flywheel/faceplate is worn, it can be turned, but this work should be performed by a professional car dealer turner.
Installation
6. Installation is the reverse of the procedure. Not models with automatic transmission, install the faceplate, temporarily fixing it with old bolts, tightening them to 30 Nm and check that the gap between the rear surface of the block and the mating surface of the torque converter is 27±1 mm. If it is needed. remove the faceplate and install a spacer in front of it to get the required clearance. The protrusion on the outer washer must face the torque converter. When installing a flywheel or faceplate, use new mounting bolts and apply anaerobic sealant to their threads. Tighten the bolts to the prescribed torque.
