Warning: Before removing the housing, the air conditioner must be brought into the appropriate condition. This work must be entrusted to a dealer car service specialist, since it involves the use of specialized diagnostic equipment.
Withdrawal
9. Cool the engine completely.
10. Entrust the opening of the system to a qualified specialist. Contact your dealer for assistance to set the system to the correct mode.
11. Disconnect the wire from the battery "masses".
12. On the motor shield under the hood, find the fittings for connecting the heater hoses to its radiator.
13. Place a suitable container under the fittings to collect fluid.
14. Clamp the hoses with suitable clamps. Loosen the clamps and pull the hoses off the fittings. Drain the liquid into a serving dish.
15. If compressed air is available, use it to blow out the remaining liquid from the heater radiator with a slight pressure, connecting the compressor hose to the left fitting.
Warning: Wear protective goggles when working on the compressor.
16. If there is no compressor, please note that a fair amount of liquid remains in the radiator, which can spill into the cabin when the heater is removed from the car.
17. Remove the rubber seal of the fittings from the motor shield and pull it off the fittings.
18. Locate the aluminum coolant pipes and trace them to the engine shield. Turn away the central bolt and disconnect tubes. Remove the o-rings and discard them - new ones are required for installation. Seal the openings of the connections against the ingress of dirt and moisture.
19. Disconnect the rubber seal of the tubes from the motor shield and pull it off the fittings.
20. Disconnect the wiring connector from the low pressure sensor, disconnect the vacuum hose from the control system. Tie the hose with the wiring harness together to pass it through the hole in the engine shield when removing the housing from the vehicle interior.
21. Remove the entire bezel as described in chapter 11. Please note that the heater housing is attached to the back side of the front panel.
Models up to 1996
22. Disconnect the wiring connector from the heater/evaporator radiator housing and front panel. Attach tags to avoid confusion during installation.
23. Turn away screws of fastening and remove the case of a radiator/evaporator from the front panel. Remove the housing from the passenger compartment, holding it vertically so as not to spill liquid.
Models since 1997
24. Remove the bezel support bracket from the butt panels.
25. Disconnect the air ducts to the rear passengers in front of the air distributor block to the feet of the driver and front passenger. Loosen the mounting screws and remove the air distributor block from the base of the heater/evaporator housing.
26. Disconnect the heater/evaporator housing wiring connector from the multi-pin connector. Attach tags to avoid confusion during installation. Release the wiring from all fasteners on the side of the case.
27. Remove the mounting screws and remove the heater/evaporator housing from the engine shield, towards the front passenger. If the block gasket "dried up", rock the block from side to side to "peel off" his.
28. Remove the housing from the vehicle, keeping it vertical so as not to spill liquid.
Installation
29. Installation - reverse procedure. Pay attention to the following.
- A) If the gasket is damaged during removal, use a new one during installation.
- b) Make sure that the condensate drain pipe is correctly installed on the heater/evaporator body.
- V) Attach air ducts and covers to the case securely, properly lay the wiring before installing the case in place.
- G) Securely fasten the hoses to the radiator: the supply hose from the cylinder head is connected to the left fitting, the return hose to the right (with bleed hole).
- d) Attach the rubber seals to the motor shield correctly.
- e) Add fluid and bleed the cooling system as described in the relevant credit chapter 1.
- and) Finally, have a qualified technician install new O-rings and charge the systems with refrigerant.
