Squeaks in the doors — search and elimination (Audi A4 B5)

1. Make sure that the doors are not hanging in the hinges and that the latch holds the door securely closed. Check that there are no distortions of the door in the opening of the body. Adjustment of the door in the opening is described in paragraph 23.

2. If the latch of the lock holds the door in the closed position correctly, but the latch creaks, the lock mechanism may be faulty and needs to be replaced.

3. Other door squeaks can be caused by worn power window mechanisms, internal door lock mechanisms, loose wiring fasteners, and sliding glass guide troughs.
