Attention! Seat belts must be fastened before each trip, incl. and around the city. This also applies to passengers in the rear seats.
General recommendations
- The belt strap must not be twisted.
- One belt should never fasten two people at once. It is especially dangerous to put the webbing on top of a child sitting on their laps.
- The webbing of the belt should not put pressure on hard or brittle objects in pockets (glasses, fountain pens, keychains, smoking pipes, etc.), as it may cause injury.
- Layered, loose clothing (e.g. a coat over a jacket) restricts movement and reduces the effect of seat belts.
- It is unacceptable to grab the belt tape and rub it against sharp edges.
- The belt buckle must only be inserted into the slot of the lock intended for the corresponding seat.
- The lock nest must not be clogged with paper and debris.
- The belt tape must be kept clean, as due to heavy contamination, the operation of the automatic retraction of the belts may be impaired.
- Damaged, as well as stretched due to emergency operation, seat belts must be replaced. At the same time, the fastening of the belts should also be checked.
Diagonal lap belts with automatic retractor
Belts with automatic retractor provide, with smooth operation of the tensioner, complete freedom of movement. However, when braking hard, they are blocked.
Automation blocks the belts also when accelerating the car, when driving in mountainous terrain and when cornering.
In the event of a frontal collision at high speed, the front seat belts are automatically tensioned.
Fastening
Grasping the belt buckle, gently pull the belt tape, put it over the chest and waist, then insert the buckle into the lock slot near the seat and fix it. Make sure the lock is locked.
The diagonal strap of the belt should pass approximately through the middle of the shoulder, fitting snugly to the figure, but in no case should it wrap around the neck.
On the front seats, the strap of the buckled seat belt can be adjusted using the seat height adjustment or the vertical belt adjustment.
The backrests of the front seats must not be tilted too far back. as a result, the protective effect of the seat belts may be lost.
The horizontal strap of the belt must always fit snugly against the belt. You can tighten it up a bit if needed.
Seat belt height adjustment
The front seat belts can be adjusted to fit by sliding the buckle.
Belt release
The belt buckle is released by pressing the orange lock button with your finger. In this case, the clasp pops out of the socket under the action of the spring.
To facilitate the work of the automatic belt retractor, the clasp should be pulled back by hand. At the same time, a plastic button embedded in the belt tape helps to hold the clasp in a position convenient for gripping.
Lap belt
The middle rear seats are fitted with lap-type seat belts.
The belt should always fit snugly around the waist.
Waist belt, manually adjustable
To lengthen the belt, holding the clasp at right angles to the ribbon, pull it through the buckle to the desired length.
Adjusting the belt is easier if the clasp together with the buckle is compressed in the longitudinal direction, as shown in the illustration.
To shorten the belt, just pull on its free end.
The extra length of the belt is compensated by moving the movable plastic buckle.
For safety reasons, the buckle of the lap belt must always be connected to the buckle when not in use.
Waist belt with automatic retractor
For fastening, the belt is pulled out by it with a continuous movement, and its clasp is inserted into the slot of the corresponding lock and snaps into it.
Note: The belt can only be pulled out if the belt has been completely retracted by the retractor.
To unfasten the belt, press the orange button on the buckle and let the belt go into the retractor.
Procon-ten passive safety system
To increase the degree of protection for the driver and passenger in the front seat, fastened with seat belts, the car is equipped with a passive safety system procon-tcn.
In a severe frontal collision, even the seat belts cannot protect you from hitting your head on the steering wheel or instrument panel. For this reason, AUDI has developed a safety system that, depending on the severity of the collision, retracts the steering wheel at the moment of impact from the driver towards the engine compartment. At the same time, additional tension is applied to the seat belts in the front seats. The procon-ten system uses the rear displacement of the power unit, which occurs during a frontal collision. This offset is used to move the steering wheel away from the driver with steel cables and tighten the seat belts.
