Warning. When adjusting the parking brake cable must not be under tension.
Vehicles without body positioner
Use a screwdriver to press the lever of the parking brake cable to the stop.
The shooter shows the parking brake cable lever
If at the same time the lever of the parking brake cable of the opposite wheel came off the stop, then the parking brake cable was overtightened.
In this case, loosen the cable equalizer adjusting nut so that both cable drive levers rest only lightly on the stops.
Insert a screwdriver with a diameter of at least 6 mm between the pressure regulator spring and its mounting bracket to the body.
With the engine off, depress the brake pedal approximately 40 times using moderate force.
After that, check if the rear wheels rotate freely.
Vehicles with body positioner
Carry out the same operations as on vehicles without body positioner until adjusting the cable tension with the equalizer nut, then proceed as follows:
- put the car on wheels;
- let the engine idle for 2 minutes;
- stop the engine and press the brake pedal with medium force about 40 times in a row;
- check the free rotation of both rear wheels.
